Youth Theatre

The Youth Theatre as an integral part of Z-PAC Theatre provides a very valuable service to the theatre and to the wider community. The opportunity to train in a fully equipped theatre and to participate in fully staged shows as well as be taught stage craft and the whole range of different theatre and acting skills is a great opportunity for the Youth Theatre members.

With three groups of between 15 to 25 students each, the directors and tutors are kept very busy. These are dedicated tutors, the most of whom are qualified teachers trained in theatre and drama who donate their valuable time for free to the young people, and as a result of their generosity the fees are very affordable for families to provide quality theatre training for their children.

For the most part parents do not have to contribute very much for costuming for the shows that each youth theatre group puts on during the year, again a great cost benefit for the parents borne by the theatre. The spectacular show girl costumes in 'Bugsy Malone' for example were all made especially for the production without the actors having to pay a cent.

This year there are a few changes with the tutors with us reluctantly having to say goodbye to Rebecca Harrison from Juniors and Tamara Bailey from Transit Teens, and we would like to again say a very gigantic than you to these two amazing ladies for their hard work. Rebecca has left to travel overseas for a few years and Tamara who taught the Juniors for two years and the Transits for a year, well and truly deserves a break and hopes to perform with the adult theatre for a change this year.

So our line-up of directors is:
Juniors - Michelle Clements will continue as Junior Director and will be joined by Aquilla Russell, who has a Performing Arts Degree from Capricornia Uni and is an ex Z-PAC Theatre Youth member – lovely to see her coming back to join us. Some of the older Youth Theatre members will continue to assist as well.

Tranist Teens - We welcome Veronica Pronger, a Drama teacher currently teaching at Xavier College, as our new Transit Teen Director. She grew up in Maryborough and is looking forward to working with our youth. We are still looking for another person to help her out with a possibility on the horizon but nothing definite yet, so if there is anyone else out there who would be interested ring Marjolijn on 4128 3885.

Teens - Marjolijn Dudgeon and Meg Beattie will still be continuing with directing the Teens and a lovely blessing is that Meg is expecting her first child mid-year so Matt King has agreed to help out a 'little' when it gets closer to production. It will be lovely to still have some imput from Matt as he has been an integral part of the Teens Directing Team for the last few years.
